Wet room
A shared wet area is planned to manage water beyond a conventional shower footprint. A tub can sit within that space, and glass can help contain spray. A wet room does not have to be completely open.
Walk-in shower
The shower has its own defined bathing area. This can be a better fit when you want to focus the project on shower access, tile and fixtures. See walk-in shower remodeling.
Tub-to-shower conversion

THE DETAILS MATTER
What matters beneath the beautiful finishes.
Tile and grout are the visible finish, not the complete waterproofing system. The assembly behind and beneath the tile must manage water at the floor, walls, drain, corners, niches and other penetrations. Waterproofing details need to follow the selected system’s requirements.
Drain location and the floor slope must work together. An existing slab or framed floor can affect how drainage and the bathroom entrance are built. A curbless entry is a project-specific design decision; it should not be assumed before the floor and plumbing are assessed.
Discuss shower spray, glass placement and the boundary between wet and dry areas. Vanity cabinetry, the toilet, doorways and nearby finishes need to be considered in that plan. Ventilation and lighting should be coordinated with the room’s intended use.

The estimate depends on the existing bathroom and the agreed scope. Review demolition, floor preparation, plumbing changes, waterproofing, drainage, tile installation, the tub and shower fittings, glass, ventilation, lighting and surrounding finishes.
Separate must-have improvements from optional upgrades and identify who supplies each product. Existing conditions uncovered during demolition may require a scope discussion. GTex prepares a site-specific estimate; a photo or a room label alone cannot establish the price or construction schedule.
Before work begins, confirm the selections, material availability, protection of adjoining rooms, access to another bathroom and the sequence of work.

Choose a Layout You Can Use and Maintain
Tub access and cleaning. Leave usable access to enter the tub and reach around it for cleaning. A tub that looks attractive on a plan still needs to fit the daily routine of the people using it.
Shower fittings and storage. Locate controls, a handheld fitting, shelves or niches where they can be reached comfortably. Plan any seat or future grab-bar support before the walls are closed.
Tile and glass. Floor-tile suitability, drain layout, grout joints and glass openings all affect the finished space. Review maintenance instructions and the manufacturer’s intended application for the products you select.

No. The defining feature is the planned waterproofed wet area. A freestanding tub is one option; the best layout depends on the room and how you use it.
Yes. A glass panel or enclosure can help manage spray while keeping the bathing area visually connected. The opening and glass layout are planned with the shower and tub.
Do not assume so. Floor construction, available space, drainage and the entrance transition must be assessed before confirming a curbless design.
No. The tile finish is part of a larger assembly. Waterproofing at the substrate, joints, drain and penetrations must be planned for the selected system.
